The frame of a bicycle is everything when it comes to cycling. Very simply, without a frame there is no bike. Full suspension mountain bike frames come in a wide variety of models from a multitude of bike manufacturers. Full suspension gives the rider both full front and rear suspension, and has become an increasingly popular choice in bike frames among all kinds of cycling enthusiasts.

There are ever increasing numbers of mountain bikes that now feature full suspension frames. These full suspension mountain bike frames also go by the name of dual suspension frames. Both the rear and front tires are fitted to some form of shock absorber where the tire is attached to the bicycle, which supplies a more stable ride. This is due to both the rear and front wheels being able to travel up and down and being able to absorb the force of any obstacles smacking the wheels.

Full suspension mountain bike frames are generally more expensive than other frames, but this is because of the upgraded performance provided by this type of frame. This type of frame will make the mountain bike much faster on technical and rough sections, as well as providing more downhill speed. Normally, when a bike’s tire strikes an object, the wheel will come flying off the ground which causes the bike to lose speed. With a full suspension mountain bike frame the upward force caused by the obstacle is absorbed and transmitted to the shock absorbers, which keeps the bicycle moving smoothly and able to continue on without a loss of speed.

Full suspension mountain bike frames improve not only the efficiency of a mountain bike, but also provide an increase in safety. While many mountain bikes these days come with full suspension, it was not always this way. When they were first produced, mountain bikes were made with a rigid frame as well as a rigid fork. Front suspension forks started to make their way on to mountain bikes in the early 1990’s, with the full suspension frame being produced a short time later.

With the improved handling when encountering obstacles and the added comfort provided by full suspension mountain bike frames, it’s easy to see why these frames have become a popular choice for riders as well as the manufacturers that produce these bikes and frames. With the ever increasing popularity of mountain bike riding and mountain bike racing, full suspension mountain bike frames have now become the norm rather than the exception.

Kona full suspension mountain bikes are among the top choices in the industry. These full suspension mountain bikes use suspension forks and quality rear shocks to provide a superior riding experience. They also have wide tires that provide excellent road grip, and along with the rear and front suspension supply easy riding over debris, rocks, and roots. There is practically no limit to what a full suspension mountain bike can do, meaning you may reach you own personal limit before you find the limit of this bike.

Kona bikes actually take their name from Hawaii’s Kailua-Kona, a place that the owners were extremely fond of. The names of their models have also taken on volcanic names and names of Hawaiian locations, such as the Cinder Cone, Hei Hei, Hot, and Kilauea. Kona bicycles are all designed with the focus on a particular need or a particular task. Kona takes pride in supplying bikes that have the user in mind, and the specifications they base their bikes on come from what these users have requested when looking for the perfect ride.

One of the top models in Kona’s full suspension bike line is the Kona One20 Primo 2009. The bike features scandium tubing, which is known to be one of the strongest and lightest metals on earth. When added to aluminum alloys, scandium increases the strength of a material by 50 percent. This makes for a bicycle that is 10 to 15 percent lighter than an all aluminum bike, yet is twice as strong as 7005 or 6061 aluminum. Scandium means the bike will come with a lifetime warranty and be a very fast bike, as it will be lighter as well. Scandium is five times stronger than aluminum, but as light as titanium. While it may be half the weight of steel, it is also more durable than carbon.

The Kona One20 Primo also features hydroformed tubing and a sloping top tube. It also comes with a compact rear triangle, magnesium rockers, and asymmetrical chainstays. It also features the Kona walking beam 4-bar linkage system. This system protects the rear shock from side-to-side forces while also allowing different suspension characteristics, and is also known for the plush factor it provides.

Kona full suspension mountain bikes offer great rides at reasonable prices. While the Kona One20 Primo 2009 is among their preferred models, it could be that you may find another model that is better suited for your needs.

The new BMC 2010 bike range makes its UK debut this month, exclusive to Evans Cycles. With Swiss precision engineering, you can ensure optimum peformance and award winning design across the BMC cycle range.

With the arrival of the 2010 Team Machines, there is now a BMC Road Bike for all budgets, from the Street Fire SSX01 at £1199.99 right up to the full carbon fibre Team Machine SLR01 at £4999.99. The new BMC Team Machine SLR01 2010 Road Bike provides the perfect balance between handling comfort, rigidity and light weight design. Offering an entirely carbon construction, right down to the dropouts and cable stops, the Team Machine saves almost 150 grams over the sub kilo Pro Machine. All this whilst improving stiffness in the front end thanks to the tapered steerer tube design.

On top of the reduced weight and handling, BMC further enhanced comfort when designing the 2010 Team Machine. Taking the T.C.C. (Tuned Compliance Concept) to a whole new level, BMC maintains rigidity around the bottom bracket for efficient power transfer, whilst reducing bump transmission to the rider. Custom lay-up of carbon in the tiny chain stays and seat post add up to a smooth ride, never normally associated with pro level race machines. Click below for more information and specifications on the Team Machine SLR01 complete bike and Team Machine SLR01 Frame.

March also sees the arrival of the 2010 BMC Trailfox TF02. Designed for the serious trail rider, the Trailfox’s iSC hydro-formed, triple butted alloy frame, keeps everything on the straight and narrow whilst the twin link, 140mm APS suspension system helps keep you in control. At last, the Swiss technological innovators have provided the perfect tool for the hard core UK trail rider. Check out the 2010 BMC Trailfox TF02 along with the full range of BMC Mountain Bikes exclusively available at Evans Cycles.
