Cannondale Full Suspension Mountain Bikes

| February 22nd, 2011 | No Comments »

Cannondale full suspension mountain bikes have been completely revamped for the 2011 season. New designs combine elements from the popular Jekyll frame to create competitive full suspension bikes with great stability. Based on the principle that simplicity, great materials and advanced engineering can deliver the best results in races on rugged terrain, Cannondale has developed serious workhorses in their Scalpel and RZ One Twenty full suspension bikes.

Two essential elements set Cannondale full suspension mountain bikes apart from other brands. In addition to Cannondale’s cutting-edge aluminium and BallisTec carbon alloy construction, the unique frame design features a slight elbow in the top tube for better stand-over clearance. Cannondale full suspension mountain bikes feature single-pivot and zero-pivot rear suspension systems for efficient impact rebound and competition-winning speed.

The RZ One Twenty series is the keystone of Cannondale’s range of full suspension mountain bikes. Starting at £1.500, the RZ One Twenty 4 is the most affordable Cannondale full suspension mountain bike. However, riders also get a tremendous value in this competitively priced package. Other RZ One Twenty models, including RZ One Twenty 1, RZ One Twenty 2, and RZ One Twenty 3 are priced at £2.500, £1.900 and £1.600 respectively.

All RZ One Twenty models feature a super-durable one-piece integrated backbone (OPI) fork and Cannondale’s proprietary SmartFormed aluminium-alloy frame for excellent impact resistance and weight reduction. Cannondale’s detail-oriented construction pairs high-end components with proprietary technology to deliver the best performance on the trail. Depending on the model, you’ll find Monarch Rock Shox in the rear, RST Deuce Air, Solo Air or the famous one-sided Lefty suspension fork offering 120 mm of bottomless travel in front, Shimano cogs, SRAM derailleurs and a host of other top-notch components. One-click lockout and adjustable rebound are also available with several RZ One Twenty models.

Since its introduction nearly one decade ago, the Cannondale Scalpel has been making waves in the industry and winning races on the course. As the name implies, you’ll be carving trails with surgical precision on this advanced racing machine. The one-sided Lefty fork has been a remarkable breakthrough for Cannondale allowing the company to reduce weight dramatically and eliminate the need for bushings and bearings. Compression rebound pistons provide a firm bottomless feel with specially tuned valves based on frame size and anticipated rider weight for improved efficiency in the race.

Cannondale’s top of the line team-replica Scalpel retails for £7.500 while Scalpel 1, 2 and 3 retail for £5.000, £3.700 and £2.900 respectively. Designed for speed, the Cannondale Scalpel line features ultra-light and super-durable BallisTec carbon frames that weigh in at a mere 1580 grams, including the rear shock.

With 80 mm of travel and a zero-pivot rear suspension system that delivers linear impact rebound across the frame, Cannondale full suspension mountain bikes are designed to provide for race-winning power. Rear shocks from Fox, tubeless Mavic wheels and tubeless-ready Schwalbe racing tires are among the options included with Cannondale’s top of the line Scalpel racing bikes.

Overall, Cannondale full suspension mountain bikes are designed to be mean and lean racing machines with a stiff and efficient dual suspension system, lightweight frame, advanced components and industry-leading technology than can withstand rugged conditions on the trail.

Specialized Full Suspension Mountain Bikes

| February 8th, 2011 | No Comments »

Since Specialized Bicycle Components released the first Stumpjumper mountain bike in the early 1980s, the sport and technology has changed dramatically. Today’s Stumpjumper FSR is one of many Specialized full suspension mountain bikes available with an active four-point suspension system featuring advanced AFR BRAIN Fade technology from Fox Racing Shox. The first generation of mountain bikes used traditional rigid frame technology that led eventually to hardtail systems with front suspension. The newest generation of Specialized full suspension mountain bikes uses BRAIN Fade technology to automatically sense impacts associated with natural terrain changes whilst providing a firm surface on hard corners and smooth terrain for maximum power transfer and efficiency on technically challenging terrain.

Specialized full suspension mountain bikes are among the lightest in their class delivering high-performance results that helps riders achieve championship-winning results. The advanced rear suspension uses four strategic pivot points to distribute impact across the frame for a smoother more efficient ride. The unique system can be manually adjusted to accommodate each rider’s weight and riding style for maximum performance on the trail. Specialized mountain bikes and rugged cross country models are loaded with hardware from the best manufacturers. SRAM derailleurs, hydraulic brakes from Avid, Shimano pedal components and advanced forks manufactured by Fox are designed to deliver the best performance.

High-quality components and advanced system technology produces a noticeable ride improvement. Like all full suspension bikes, you can expect to pay a higher premium compared to rigid and hardtail models. Fortunately, Specialized offers a large selection of mountain bikes for cross country, downhill and competitive racing applications with different pricing options. The ever popular Stumpjumper is available with standard competition features for around £1.200 to £1.500 with the top-of-the line Stumpjumper S-Works carbon fibre model selling for roughly £4.000. Frame options available with the Stumpjumper range from £1.050 to £2.050 when purchased a la carte. Entry level mountain bikes with full suspension start at £900 with top of the line models selling for £6,500 or more.

The Enduro, lightweight Epic, Pitch Competition and Pitch Pro models are among the most popular full suspension mountain bikes alongside the multi-functional Stumpjumper. Each Specialized mountain bike model offers specially tuned suspension and frame geometry to suit each application. The Era and a handful of Specialized full suspension mountain bikes are designed for female riders whilst competition models and racing bikes deliver a firmer suspension system for maximum efficiency.

BMC 2010 Bikes

| March 14th, 2010 | No Comments »

The new BMC 2010 bike range makes its UK debut this month, exclusive to Evans Cycles. With Swiss precision engineering, you can ensure optimum peformance and award winning design across the BMC cycle range.

With the arrival of the 2010 Team Machines, there is now a BMC Road Bike for all budgets, from the Street Fire SSX01 at £1199.99 right up to the full carbon fibre Team Machine SLR01 at £4999.99. The new BMC Team Machine SLR01 2010 Road Bike provides the perfect balance between handling comfort, rigidity and light weight design. Offering an entirely carbon construction, right down to the dropouts and cable stops, the Team Machine saves almost 150 grams over the sub kilo Pro Machine. All this whilst improving stiffness in the front end thanks to the tapered steerer tube design.

On top of the reduced weight and handling, BMC further enhanced comfort when designing the 2010 Team Machine. Taking the T.C.C. (Tuned Compliance Concept) to a whole new level, BMC maintains rigidity around the bottom bracket for efficient power transfer, whilst reducing bump transmission to the rider. Custom lay-up of carbon in the tiny chain stays and seat post add up to a smooth ride, never normally associated with pro level race machines. Click below for more information and specifications on the Team Machine SLR01 complete bike and Team Machine SLR01 Frame.

March also sees the arrival of the 2010 BMC Trailfox TF02. Designed for the serious trail rider, the Trailfox’s iSC hydro-formed, triple butted alloy frame, keeps everything on the straight and narrow whilst the twin link, 140mm APS suspension system helps keep you in control. At last, the Swiss technological innovators have provided the perfect tool for the hard core UK trail rider. Check out the 2010 BMC Trailfox TF02 along with the full range of BMC Mountain Bikes exclusively available at Evans Cycles.
